Western Australian Bill Seeks to Reflect Native Title Negotiations

Land Administration (South West Native Title Settlement) Bill 2015

The Bill has been introduced this week to the Legislative Assembly. It seeks to regulate the distribution of native title interests through the creation, licencing and conveyance of interests in land to the Noongar People in the State’s South-West. It is a legislative codification of the settlement reached between the State Government and the Noongar People. The Bill will facilitate the establishment of the Noongar Land Estate which is defined by 20 000 hectares of freehold land and up to 300 000 hectares of leasehold or reserve Crown land.
