Senate Inquiry into Supertrawlers Reinstated

The Commonwealth Senate referred the matter of environmental, social and economic impacts of large-capacity fishing vessels, commonly known as ‘Supertrawlers’ operating in Australia’s Marine jurisdiction, to the committee a year ago but the committee lapsed at dissolution of the 44th Parliament. Last week the Senate re-referred the matter with the same scope and terms of reference. The committee is to issue a report on the matter by 23 November 2016.
