The Inquiry is currently receiving submissions about potential unnecessary costs associated with federal environmental assessment and approval. The inquiry will not only look at whether or not current environmental assessments impart an unreasonable economic burden on proponents but also look at potential areas of the process where red tape, through duplication or unnecessarily complex requirements, could be reduced. The inquiry will look at the Federal environmental assessment process but take notice of examples of best practice from state jurisdictions and international processes. Submissions are currently being received for the next two weeks.
