Queensland Government Fails to Increase Vegetation Protection

Vegetation Management (Reinstatement) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016

The Queensland Government initiative to reform state laws to increase native vegetation protection has failed upon second reading as Parliament resumed this week. Currently, farmers are allowed to clear native vegetation to allow for high-value agriculture projects and also self-assess and manage the clearing on their property if located in certain areas.
