Open for Comment: Draft Terms of Reference for Project Sea Dragon Stage 1 Legune Grow-out Facility

The Northern Territory Environmental Protection Authority is currently seeking comments regarding the draft terms of reference for the proposed billion dollar “Project Sea Dragon” aquaculture project. The project is expected to produce 12000 tonnes of prawns annually, potentially Australia’s largest prawn farm. Concerns regarding the potential environmental impact of waste water discharge from the land-based ponds influencing water-systems downstream are among issues expected to be considered in the Environmental Impact Statement. Comments are open to the public until 23rd October 2015. Submissions and more information regarding the project can be found here: http://www.ntepa.nt.gov.au/environmental-assessments/assessment/register/sea-dragon-project
