Barcaldine Remote Community Solar Farm

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has committed $22.8 million towards the development of a large scale solar farm on the fringe of the national energy grid in remote Queensland. The project will produce 79 000 solar photovoltaic single tracking panels. The project is hoped to demonstrate the potential consistency of solar energy and increase the accessibility of energy sources for remote populations. The project is due for completion by April 2017.
