Following on from the Four Corners revelations two weeks, the Prime Minister announced a Murray Darling Basin Wide Compliance Review. The Murray-Darling Basin Authority is due to deliver its report by the end of 2017. Yesterday, Fairfax media reported that select licences had been issued to or modified for irrigators in north-western New South Wales that allow for larger takes of water. The licences are said to breach the Water Management Act 2000 (NSW) and the water sharing plan governing use in the area.
