Renew Australia Bill 2017 (Cth)

The Private Member’s Bill was introduced to the Senate last week. It seeks to address outstanding issues currently faced by the Australian energy system. The Bill establishes an independent public authority, Renew Australia, to guide the social and economic transition toward renewable energy. Renew Australia would be responsible for creating a skilled workforce competent in areas of clean energy infrastructure, planning the development of renewable infrastructure and administering the Clean Energy Transition Fund which will aid transitioning workers access to retraining and industry support.
