QLD Legislates to Kick the Plastic Habit

The Government has introduced the Waste Reduction and Recycling Amendment Bill 217 (QLD) to introduce a twofold pollution reduction scheme. The first stage introduces a state-wide Container Refund Scheme similar to schemes already in place in the Northern Territory and South Australia. The second part of the scheme is a state-wide ban on plastic shopping bags across Queensland. The Bill remains before Parliament.
