Northern Territory Energy Law Reform

The Northern Territory began transitioning to the National Electricity market in 2015 under the National Electricity (Northern Territory) (National Uniform Legislation) Act. The current reforms under the National Electricity (Northern Territory) (National Uniform Legislation) Bill 2017 (NT) work to ensure the applicability of the Australia Energy Market operator, despite it having no operational role in the Northern Territory, and ensuring the applicability of Australian Electricity rules in the Northern Territory despite being detached from the National Electricity Market.
