Federal Government Seeks Talks with Asian Investor over Coal Power Station

The Federal Resources Minister and Minister for Northern Australia has suggested there is interest from Asian investors in developing a power station in northern Queensland. The Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, worth five billion dollars, would be accessed in order to support the investment. Yesterday, former Treasurer Wayne Swan called on the Auditor-General to investigate the security of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, suggesting the current accountability measures inbuilt into the fund leave opportunity for mismanagement.
