This week the federal government announced a 2017 Review Of Climate Change Policies in Australia. The review is orientated around the 2030 federal target of reducing emissions to 26-28 per cent below 2005 levels. This target focuses the report on a sectorial analysis of emissions reduction strategies, the market shifts associated with emissions reduction, policy review, innovation and the development of goals beyond 2030. The announcement of the review comes as The Finkel Review, commissioned by COAG, stated Australian climate policy is currently ill-equipped to meet its required reduction targets under the Paris Agreement.
